HO - Deputy Chief Financial Officer – Retail Banking
Deputy CFO – Retail Banking will act as a strategic advisor to the respective Business Head (Consumer Banking, Corporate Banking, or Financial Markets) while maintaining a direct reporting line to the CFO.
The role ensures the delivery of insightful financial advice and decision support to business leaders, alongside adherence to financial discipline, governance, and performance oversight expected by the CFO.
Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Business Partnership
- Collaborate with Business Heads to translate strategic initiatives into financial outcomes.
- Support business growth through financial planning, business cases, investment reviews, and cost-benefit analyses.
- Drive ownership and accountability for key applicable metrics such as:
- Customer growth
- Cost efficiencies
- Loan and deposit margins
- NIM (Net Interest Margin)
- ROA (Return on Assets)
- ROE (Return on Equity)
- Trading income
2. Business-Specific Engagement
- Drive branch profitability, product and customer segment economics.
- Drive pricing strategies for lending, deposits, and fee-based services.
- Enable performance tracking across dimensions including:
- Sales productivity
- Campaign ROI
- Channel effectiveness
3. Performance Management & Forecasting
- Lead budgeting, rolling forecasts, and performance processes with consistent commentary to the Business Head and CFO.
- Support and challenge forecasts and assumptions.
- Track variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Leverage analytics and dashboards for insightful performance reviews.
- Monitor, support and challenge investment and capex proposals.
- Keep abreast of external developments and identify opportunities and trade-offs.
4. Governance & Financial Control
- Partner with the Financial Control Department to support compliance with internal policies and external regulatory standards.
- Support the CFO and Financial Controller in embedding a robust financial governance framework across decision-making processes.
- Support audit, tax, capital, and risk management requirements as relevant.
5. Stakeholder Engagement & Influence
- Balance business support with governance oversight in all interactions.
- Engage with senior leadership, contributing to:
- Forums
- Steering committees
- Strategy reviews
- Provide clear, data-backed advice to influence strategic and operational decisions.
Requirements:
- Master/Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related
discipline
- MBA, CPA, ACCA, CFA or equivalent preferred
- At least 15 years in finance, with significant experience in banking or financial services
